He's not the most swoon-worthy character I've read, but he did come across as a normal teenager. The two sexy paranormals who vie for Evie's affections each had their own victory; one won Evie's heart and the other won mine. Lend, the love interest, has his moments. She knew she wanted to create stories for people like her to enjoy. The story was entertaining, and it was different from anything I've read.
But boredom soon sinks in, and Evie cannot help but worry that something is amiss in the supernatural world, what with all the odd dreams she has been having. I'm considering checking out the author's other books though and I'm hoping maybe they'll be better but this was such a let down for me. Like you said, the worldbuilding was all over the place, and Evie was so funny and quirky and humourous but … other than that, had like, no substance? The humor, sarcasm, and wit in each character's unique voice made this book a pleasure, and the spot-on pacing made it unputdownable. Why the secrecy of her heritage and the intense behavior of her faerie ex-boyfriend? I'd been seeing a few quotes from it for some time - quotes I thought were really beautiful. I could definitely see how it would be super motivating to have the draft sitting there glaring at you! There was not only the paranormal aspect, but there was a lot of teen attitude. So whenever her favorite books came to an end, she took solace in making up stories for her own enjoyment.

The mythology was so fun to read, and it was written in Isadora's very entertaining voice which is attitude and humor. The theme of being true to yourself and not allowing yourself to be absorbed in someone else was as striking as ever as Reth - the gorgeous golden trickster - continues to guide Evie as best he can toward the choice he believes is best. Fortunately for her, a chance to return to the International Paranormal Containment Agency is about to present itself. Or maybe the other way around? I had a bit of an issue with Evie, but overall the book was better that I thought it would be. On top of all that, Evie's prom is coming up. Evie works to contain and control paranormal beings.
